The 4th edition of the Supreme Dairy in Saint-Hyacinthe: a great success

The 4th edition of the Supreme Dairy in Saint-Hyacinthe, a great success again this year, ended Saturday, November 4th after three days of activities! Breeders of six dairy cattle breeds presented their finest subjects at the Quebec Provincial Dairy Cattle Finals.

The Supreme Dairy become over the years the place to be for the people who are interested in everyday life by production, profitability, health, animal welfare and also by dairy genetics. Several activities were scheduled during these three days: training clinics, conferences, dairy industry exhibitors and judgments particularly.

The Supreme Dairy is know as a activity of passionates. All activities were grouped together in the BMO Center, at the heart of 30 commercial kiosks. The pavilions "Les Pionniers and Soleno" housed 512 dairy subjects. This year, at this unmissable annual gathering of the dairy industry, there was more than 5000 visitors, including six foreign delegations such as Brazil, Germany, Holland, Italy, Colombia and the United States. Switzerland mainly, to name only these, who came to visit the Supreme Dairy and appreciate the judgment of the 512 subjects of a very high quality.

Saturday, for the closing of the judgments, it is a superb cow of the red and white Holstein race "GREENLEA A CARE RED ETS", property of Pierre Boulet from Montmagny who left with the great honors of the Great Supreme Champion.

Regarding the Supreme Reserve Champion, the honor went to "JACOBS LAUTHORITY LOANA" an impressive cow of the Holstein breed belonging to Ferme Jacobs Inc. of Cap Santé.

Supreme Ayrshire and Swiss Brown sales attracted many visitors and breeders in search of new cows of quality. 20 subjects were sold for an average value of $ 4,277 for the Ayrshire breed and $ 2,640 for the Brown Swiss breed.

Commercial kiosks have made efforts to present their new products and services offered. The Salon Ciaq was remarkable and attracted many visitors. The Lely A4 milking robot in operation with 11 cows from SelectSires Genervations bulls, has once again attracted the attention of producers looking for exemplary models for their dairy farm.

The Ciaq, Desjardins Entreprise, the Government of Quebec, and other valued partners have all been key elements in the success of this 4th edition.

The Supreme Dairy is organized by Expo Saint-Hyacinthe and is the only exhibition in Canada to present the six (6) breeds of dairy cattle under judgment under the same roof, namely the Holstein, Holstein Rouge, Ayrshire, Brown Swiss, Canadian and Jersey.
